Turkey is attracting tens of thousands of foreign property buyers, according to new figures.
Data from the Turkish Land Registry Directorate revealed that there were currently 68,419 overseas investors in the country's housing market. Figures cited by Today's Zaman showed that property buyers were purchasing homes in many different areas, including Antalya and Istanbul. The former destination was found to be the most popular investment spot in the country, as it had attracted a total of 17,668 foreign nationals. Meanwhile, Istanbul was the preferred choice of 7,605 people, with others opting for places such as Mugla, Aydin and Bursa. Turkey was also said to be an appealing location for several different nationalities, although buyers from Germany, Greece and the UK collectively accounted for two-thirds of foreign property owners in the country. This comes after the newspaper reported that more than six million people were passing through Antalya's international airport every year, partly due to its popularity among holidaymakers and overseas investors.
